1917 Trench War is a campaign pack for Modern War, a Cepheus Engine-based game.
This is a roleplaying game set on the Western Front in 1917, where the players' unit faces an implacable foe across No Man's Land. Poison gas, machine guns, snipers and thickets of barbed wire have turned the conflict into siege warfare. Stalemate. To break that stalemate, daring commando raids are carried out. Play as a small squad of night-time trench raiders, striking enemy posts and trenches, carrying out bombing raids, prisoner snatches, assaults and assassinations… And they used all kinds of improvised dress, equipment and weaponry, from entrenching tools as axes, iron plate as armour, and balaclavas and boiler-suits to break up their silhouette. These small teams went out into the dark often without back-up or any chance to call for help. They were on their own, facing life and death situations and thinking for themselves about what had to be done and how to survive and get back to their own lines. Includes firearms for British and Commonwealth, French, German and US armies, as well as comprehensive rules on poison gas, sniping, barbed wire, trench fighting and operating at night. Three tanks are included, as well as a list of mission guidelines and random mission and encounter tables. Maps and Firearms Art by Ian Stead |
